PSHE is at the heart of our school ethos. We believe that education in PSHE enables pupils to become healthier, safer, independent and more responsible members of society. We encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. In so doing, we help to develop their sense of self-worth. We teach pupils about their rights and about their responsibilities. They learn to appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse and multi-cultural society. We are dedicated to ensuring that our school is a happy, stimulating and caring place and we expect high standards of behaviour and good manners throughout the school. Behaviour and attitudes to learning are key to developing determine and resilience learners. We endeavour to develop a growth mind-set for all so each children understands there is no ceiling to the learning and develop and use various strategies when faced with challenges in the learning.
We organise the PSHE curriculum in a variety of ways. We use SEAL as the basis for our curriculum. However, we are flexible in the way this is delivered. Recently, we have added activities where pupils have the chance to discuss strategies they can use when they face challenging in their learning, ‘The Learning Pit’.
